I had a fabulous birthday. You should have been there! ;)

I woke up early to get started on my politics paper, and ended up wondering why I get so easily distracted from doing school work. I suppose the immediate explanation would be that I have little interest in what I study (aha but with Greek Mythology and Wine-tasting next semester that is going to change!), but I like Mr B saying that we were only going to work desperately hard for one exam in our lives (the A-levels), and after that, the intensity just doesn't measure up anymore.

I haven't been conscientious about blogging about VT, but I'll say - there's nothing quite like the Sage Chapel vigil, the outpourings of sympathy messages (even on Facebook!) and the like to make you feel as though you're part of a larger American college community. VT struck a chord with all of us because as college kids we have too much in common, and it's disturbing to think that it could possibly even happen in sleepy Ithaca.

Singapore Day: "great success", as Borat would say. Central Park was too hot for my liking, but as Jac says, when you give up on the food lines, just take lots of photos. Unfortunately I didn't bring my camera so there are no photos of our $16 bread basket from Balthazar's, or of ES grimacing as we fiddled with Chee Wei's lomo in bad form for a posh restaurant. Or of boozeparty at earthNYC (next time I'm going to Crobar instead).
