Thanksgiving Break.

Wednesday: Slept in, no class! Mad snow, whee! Hall rapidly empties of all signs of human life. Want to go home badly, although snow = pretty; have lost count of hallmates who've said "I'm sorry" to me because home's too far away to go for Thanksgiving :/

Thursday: Thanksgiving Day. Snowstorm. Friends trayed on Appel slopes. Mad snowballing. Wendy's = YUM. Beginning of all-night drive to Central Valley, NY for Woodbury Midnight Madness Post-Thanksgiving Sale. Skidded on ice patch, consequentially experienced firsthand efficiency of Pennsylvania State Police, and nastiness of nasty Pennsylvania winter weather. Also the inefficacy of 3M Thinsulate gloves that claim to be "anti-chill". Wondered how 'Jing, Baoyi etc possibly survive in Philly, then remember that weather probably as bad, if not worse, in Ithaca. Endured slew of Christmas carols on radio, am thoroughly sick of holiday songs - yes ES I am a grinch :X Arrived at Woodbury, joined snaking queue outside Armani Exchange. Dashed in. Girls, being experienced shoppers we are, were done early and waited for the guys (: Calvin Klein similarly fish-market-like. Apparently Americans like sales as much as Singaporeans do.

Friday: Black Friday. FREEZING. Queued at 2am for half an hour outside Polo Ralph Lauren, cursing post-it-coloured-shirt-donning PRL staff manning the door who wouldn't let us in. With CW & YY, entertained thoughts of starting riot outside so that we could get into the store where it was (much) warmer. Then went to Guess? warzone. Asians of all shapes, sizes and colours, speaking a variety of East Asian languages (Japanese Mandarin Canto) fighting tooth and nail to Grab All You Can. Shoes all over floor, handbags too, down coats and tees trodden on by more impatient Asians in the checkout line (which incidentally snaked all around the store and outside the back door, as it did in AX). Took cover in corner with V and YY, then decided to head for foodcourt to regain sanity. After that, went to Adidas (probably only semblance of civilization in Woodbury), Diesel (another madhouse), and then fled to Starbucks with S for Peppermint Mocha Fraps. Were apparently the only people who ordered cold drinks. Barista did double take after I said "Frapuccinos", gave me Maybe-These-Fobby-Asians-don't-understand-the-menu look, said patiently, "Those are frozen, you know." Took our time under the (wrong) assumption that since The North Face wasn't having a sale, no one would bother going. Went over to The North Face, saw queue, were very traumatized, fled to Gap. Resolved to brave queue in the name of Good Winter Wear, headed outside. By now queue had extended all the way across the road, to the front door of Aldo. Passed time in queue by counting number of people wearing TNF jackets who were heading out of the store with more TNF bags, silently cursing them (: After TNF we decided we'd had enough, went for breakfast in food court and HEADED HOME. Woodbury is way cool; but not for Black Friday Retail Insanity. And certainly not in subzero weather. On way back to Cornell was party, with YY and V, to YL's appalling driving skills (!), which got us back in one piece anyway (:

Boredom.

Bored while waiting in front of the computer during CoursEnrol.

Bored in GOVT294/PHIL194, and couldn't fall asleep in class like I usually do.

Bored after Psych; ES thinks NYC and Cornell are in different states. Look to this for edification, o ignorant one (=

Bored while reading (my only copy of) the New York Times. This is on my wall next to my bed (=

Random Thoughts on Sunday Afternoon

Five degrees? Wu Zhuang you wuss! Come to NY and freeze your ass off :D

Please let it snow; it's warmer when it does.

Hallmate Kara's added festive cheer to our floor. She's got a Christmas wreath on her door!
Wait, that rhymes.

When drunk, my Singaporean friends think they're Taiwanese.

Reading about psychiatric disorders for PSYCH101 screws up your mind!

I aspire to cultivate an impressive work ethic (hallmate Andrew, describing the other Singaporean on my floor) and pwn SP06. And have (somewhat) of a life.
Andrew, incredulously: "You're not Singaporean." Oh dear.

But before that- I shall take California! 6 days of fun in the sun (it'd better be sunny!), maybe catching Tiffany in Palo Alto (because I refuse to get lost on the way to San Jose), mad decadence and clean fun (=

And EUROTRIP, which I have just learnt is on Chim's Highly Recommended List. Knowing Chim (and thus the similarity between her taste and Zhuang's) I shall refrain from making a shameless plug for the movie (which was rated M in Crass America), but yes it's very funny.

As is Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Desperate Housewives. I heart American television.

I heart my brother too; he's just offered to give me a long-term loan on his X-BOX for when I move off campus next year! (=
