Oh right, before I forget--

A wonderful reunion with 413! :D

This is for Cat (just because she knows Serenelee) and ZH (just because she was talking about you):

So anyway, I talk to all of my ex-classmates, who're apparently all NOT livin' it up at RJ=) There was an interesting snippet about cross-dressing screechy RJ guys groovin' to Celine Dion and Britney Spears, but anyways. So Serenelee turns up (apparently late because of a soppy farewell to *ahem*, who went back to AC). And being the nice, caring friend I am, I decide to sit next to her so we can catch up on old times (i.e. reliving the days when she cursed me after I insulted her). Quite surprisingly, Serenelee is seemed very eager to talk to me, which made me abit wary. Our conversation (or rather, monologue) is as follows-

Serenelee: "So. Tell me about Zhuang Hui."
Me: "..."
Serenelee: "Is he still a b*aya? Is he attached?"
(Here Serenelee shoots about a rapidfire of other assorted questions, which I find myself pretty much unable to answer. Am quite alarmed by Serenelee's sudden interest in our friend, since I'd always thought they had less-than-favourable opinions of each other.)
Then: "Okay, I have nothing more to ask you about ZH. You can talk to Clar and Puee and Pam now."
Obviously this was received by yours truly with much indignation. I haven't seen her (or heard her) in ages, and the only thing she wants to talk about is Wu Zhuang Hui? Geez! And I didn't even get to insult her again!

Later on, before I leave, Serenelee calls out (much to the chagrin of the staff at SakaeExpress), "Eh, remember to tell that Zhuang Hui arh, that Serene tells him, 'Don't flirt too much.'" (Sheesh what a nag!)
Parting shot on behalf on ZH: "Zhuang Hui would also like to remind Serene not to flirt too much, either."

Geez I shouldn't have come to school on CNY eve. Spent most of it vegging in the tutors' room with Em, flipping through assorted university prospectuses (prospecti?!) and having our self-esteem levels veer down to zero. Seeing Pak, Cexiang, Zing, et al, various seniors' names on the board under "OXFORD" or "CAMBRIDGE" with ticks or crosses next to their names and eavesdropping on who made the PSC etc. reminded me that next year, our juniors would be hanging out there (in the tutors' room I mean) and our names would be on the board with ticks/crosses next to them :\ Tradition of excellence.

Check out Kumweng's tribute to the tutors, a la Animal Farm!

Happy New Year, everybody:)

Princess Mononoke today. It was a very pretty movie except I didn't really understand what was going on. Could be my lousy command of Chinese that prevented me from reading fanti subtitles quickly enough. Here's what I gleaned:
- Ashitaka (the hero) wears a thong.
- Princess Mononoke (the heroine) wears a mask that, rather disturbingly, reminds me of the savages in Lord of the Flies.
- You can stop someone from slitting your throat by saying, "Wo jue de ni hen mei."
- The qilin (funny ancient Chinese mythical creature with horns and hooves) is very ugly. And gets mad if you steal his head.
- The one thing that hurts a forest most is a horde of stampeding giant wild boars.
... Have I piqued your curiosity yet? Go watch it, it's pretty worth your while if you understand it:) I'm going to hunt for the English one!

There's hope!

Mr Miles in denial:
I'M NOT FUNNY, YOU'RE ALL JUST WEIRD! WARPED!
(corrected at Mel's behest)

Maybe the Othello overdose of last year is kicking in only now, but the appearance/reality thing came back to haunt us: our juniors look deceptively innocent. I knew some of them weren't (aha), but it was vaguely disturbing when they go, "You know... Sakura petals. Eww." I still don't get the whole thing! Reminds me of American Beauty (ZH's and CW's hot topic of discussion last year) tho'. For all our corrupted minds, excessive ribaldry and very suggestive innuendoes of last year (and this year), today and the petals story made Sheryl and I wanna shake our heads and go, "And they're not yet seventeen."
