Haha. After reading Mel's post on how lousy Othello: the Black Commando was, I suddenly remembered bits of the moive which I found exceptionally hilarious.

- Riding horses to Beethoven's Fur Elise.

- Paratroopers jumping of the plane to strains of Beethoven's Fifth. I think everyone in LT5 was in fits.

About gossiping - Realised on Friday, once again, how tiring gossiping really is. Especially when you're talking to each other in code just so the people next to you can't find out what you're saying. Especially if you're not part of the original conversation and trying your darndest to match codenames to real people, and separate the real from the fake from the might-be-true. Or if you're bitching about someone (we weren't on Friday lah). Dunno. Sometimes I think socialising is just really... tiring.

Interesting lessons I learnt in school today:
1. According to Mr Miles (or the British colonialists in Southeast Asia), bolsters are about as exciting in bed as a Dutchwoman. Which is why bolsters used to be called "Dutch Wives".

2. The reason, according to resident football fan Serene, why nobody likes Juventus (except maybe Weixiang) is because they're based in Turin, which was in Piedmont, and, as we all know by now, no one likes Piedmontese.

3. There's this lil' spot on the globe called Shag Rocks.

4. Brazil owns a chunk of granite somewhere in the South Atlantic called St Peter and St Paul Rock(s).

5. Zhuang Hui's right-- Othello: the Black Commando is a real tragedy.

6. Just because you're making a movie based on a play by the great Shakespeare doesn't mean you can't twist things a little and call his greatest stage villain "impotent and a faggot".

7. Estelle has an ancestor called Mozambique Chan. It's on the world map.

8. Serene has a Mozambican boyfriend called Richard. He's not on the world map.

The SIIA Seminar was pretty okay. At least, not any more boring that I expected it to be=) The group discussion-things were pretty interesting though, and Pet and I spent the better half of the not-very-interesting plenaries drawing mid-autumn fest cartoons, some of which were a tad corrupted (Inspired by Estelle: Chang-e + White Rabbit = Playboy bunny).

Interesting takeaways:
Pet: "I'm RIGHT. Put it on your blog. I'm RIGHT."
(Interestingly enough, I can't remember what she was right about. But she was right, and it's here, so...)

Professor from the University of the Philippines: "The Philippines has 7100 islands, depending on the height of the tide."

Haha... of course I had a blast at MAF, even though I missed the lightup:( Great job to Mel and CW!=) And thankfully my mishaps with the tattoo glitter were few and far between.. just a couple of huge glittery smudges on Huishan, Weixiang and Johnny:)
Sparkly-glittery tattoo thing won't come off. And it's Wednesday already.

Watched a bit of the President's Star Charity on Sunday.
Quoth dear Hollywood star Fann Wong: "People need your money to learn, grow and live with dignity. Please."
I mean, how patronising it that, man? Just saw it again on TVMobile today >_____<;;;
C'mon lah. Whether or not you live with dignity doesn't depend on whether you receive money from other people, and it's an obvious insult to anyone to suggest that their dignity depends on someone else.

Oh wait. I remember what Pet was right about.
FUN FACT OF THE DAY: The University of Paris (universite de paris to all you french fanatics) has a whopping 13 campuses. How cool is that? I mean, Paris is just one city, and in our city we barely have enought room for a third. Anyway, this French guy at the Seminar taught at The University of Paris X. Before that, we were all speculating what X was (yeah, it sounds stupid, I know) and Pet very brightly suggested that there -might- be ten universities in Paris, coincidentally all with the same name. So yeah. Pet's right. Kinda. L'universite de Paris dix.
